TAMBRAHM WEDDINGS – OF FAMILIES, RITUALS AND LOVE
What is the first word that comes to your mind when you hear “Tambrahm Wedding”? That’s right. Family.
Families of the bride and groom play a major role in this wedding and you can practically see them in every frame, reacting to gossips or being stuck in thought.
This wedding is a LOT of work and it takes much of pre planning and understanding to plan the shots according to the order of rituals.
We stuck to our process and did our research on the rituals beforehand. This had us capturing the groom early and bright, all set for his Kasi Yatra. This shot was candid and came out well because of all the colours in the frame.
Kasi Yatra
So the next ceremony is where the bride’s father promises her hand in marriage to the groom that is followed by the oonjal ceremony.
This has the ladies of both the families feed milk and banana to the couple in silver cups. Sneaking shots and candids could be amply taken in this ceremony.

This ceremony started off on a pretty relaxed state and we could do some great candid wedding shots and directed the couple for some shots.
Starting from the next ceremony, our team diligently shadowed the priest and couple, making it quite a challenging endeavor!
Mangal Sutra
To commemorate this wedding, the groom’s side family gifts the bride with the first official 9 yards sari to wear during the knot tying ceremony and we got to capture this along with the maangalyam, the holy thread.
Nearing Wedding bells
Once the bride ties the 9 yards and sits on the mandapam, the rituals to officiate the marriage begins and this gave us some time to focus on the bride’s emotions as the time nears.
Tambrahm Weddings
This moment is the culmination of all the feelings, preparations and emotions and it was actually a very powerful moment where the entire family came forward to bless the couple at that moment, cheer for them and even drown the other noises with their shouts!
This frame was colourful yes because it had many happy faces inside it!
