What Happens When An Indian Bridegroom, A Thai Bride And A Candid Wedding Photographer Meet?

As a photographer, you never know what’s in store for you! Take this wedding for example. Hari the bridegroom happened to witness Team FotoZone at work during his friend’s wedding. Convinced that we should be his wedding photographer, we eventually had this conversation about candid photo shoots.

Hari broke the news that he was getting married to a lovely lady from Thailand and that her entire family would be visiting Namma Chennai for this match made in heaven! Not just that, the wedding itself took place at Luz House, Mylapore, where one gets lost admiring its antique artefacts.

Hence we had layers of enticing elements – a wedding between Indian and non-Indian where the beauty of culture could be captured amazingly well, second it was going to be the entire family present at the wedding and third the wedding was held at one of the most beautiful places in Chennai.

We did a lot of brain storming for this photoshoot. At the end we decided it has to capture the following essence.

The fact that both the countries have embraced each other’s culture
Also how they have retained their respective culture and tradition despite being in each other’s presence.
How children who attended the wedding enjoyed the wedding.
How the Thai bride, embraced the whole idea of Indian style wedding and how best she enjoyed it
Capturing the beauty of the venue by using these antiques as a) Filers and b) As part of the candid photo shoot itself
How the bridegrooms friends enjoyed the event and photographing the subtler aspects of their friendship.
There is always this experimentation that is possible when the bride is from some other country. Hence we wanted to photograph her in various angles with various costume and jewellery and facial expressions of course.
We also wanted to capture both sides of the family having conversation with each other too.
