Arangetram is the on-stage debut performance of a Classical Dance Student, after having successfully completed several years of training, under the tutelage of eminent Dance Teachers. It is a public performance and a form of Graduation in this Art. The word Arangetram is from Tamil and means “ a Dancer ascending the stage on completion of training and performing before a discerning audience “.
We specialize in photographing the Dancer in various dance poses for the Arangetram Invitation. It is not quite like shooting for portraits in that the photographer should have some knowledge of Bharathanatyam, In order to plan the lighting for highlighting the Mudras (speaking in Indian Classical Dance via hand/finger gestures) while photographing the Dancer in interesting dance poses.
We have closely worked with almost all the leading Classical Dance Teachers in Chennai, the senior Dance Teachers being Mrs. Urmila Sathyanarayanan,
Mrs. Anitha Guha, Mr. Narachimmachari, Mrs. Chitra Viswesvaran,
Mrs. Krishna Kumari Narendhiran, Ms. Narthaki Natarajan and Mrs. Lakshmi Ramasamy …to name a few.
